Welcome to our blog hop. We are doing three questions this week and they come from JJ Devine.
If you are coming from visiting Gemma Brocato thanks for stopping by. If not, please come in, sit a spell and see what we're all about.
This is an issue I have battled on a number of occasions. I have had two heroes and one secondary character refuse to do my bidding.
This is going to sound crazy, but the best time to write is Master’s Lacrosse Season. Ya, pathetic I know. I go to my husband’s games and huddle up in the stands with my laptop and write. I do my best writing there for some reason. (Pretty sure it isn’t all those scantily clad hunks running around.) Other than that, we have a place we camp at during the warmer months. I can write quickly and smoothly there because there are no interruptions.
My first (published) novella was through etopia press, at that time they were strictly ebooks, now they are digital and print. My others are indie. I am still submitting to traditional press, but I believe in keeping my options open. I don’t believe in limiting my options, and believe there are some pretty amazing indie authors out there and I support them wholeheartedly.

I like your in-post plot twist. :) I love what you said about keeping your options open as an author. I think that's what publishing is all about these days. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm always up for twisting things about. Sometimes without realizing I am doing it. Thanks for visiting.
DeleteThat's not a bad way to get some inspiration, sitting up in the stands. I'm just saying. ;)
ReplyDeleteNow, about those whips and chains...
Shhhh.... do not tell the lacrosse guys about the whips and chains. I would never live it down!
DeleteKatie, that was an impressive post. Can't imagine not getting sidetracked with a bunch of scantily clad LaCrosse players. Such a fast game, you must get whiplash switching between your laptop and the game.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I admit that some days I spend more time watching and drooling than writing .....
DeleteLoved the dungeon and whips comment/cross out!
ReplyDeleteYa, I'm bad. I just want to rule the universe .... I was going to take it out, but you know how it is. Sometimes you can make people think you are joking.
DeleteHi, Katie, and thanks for sharing your answers with us. They're funny and insightful. I don't know that I'd be able to write in a public setting the way you can, but I'm anxious to give it a try and see what happens. Just too antsy and would end up people watching or eavesdropping instead of writing, I think.
ReplyDeleteGenerally, people leave you alone. The first few times are difficult but after than the noise around you becomes white noise. I often write at Humptys (breakfast place) I don't hear anything there and my favorite waitress just pours coffee without comment and if my cup gets cold she brings me a fresh one. She is amazing.
DeleteKeeping your options open is never a bad thing! And I like writing with action around me, too - although mine is usually family chaos!
ReplyDeleteReally, Lacross? We should all try that some time
ReplyDeleteKeeping options open is always a good idea!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with the Indie authors Katie!
ReplyDeleteand yeah, the writing inspiration probably has NOTHING to do with the scantily clad hunks running around. LOL! Love it!
I'm surprised you can get any writing done with hunks running about the place! :D Great answers!
ReplyDeleteI love keeping my options open, no sense limiting my future as an author.
ReplyDeleteAs for lacrosse, what can I say, all those yummy, sexy, sweaty, scantily clad men (and they are my age too!). Yummy Yummy Yummy.
Thanks everyone for stopping by.
Great answers!!! I agree as authors we should never limit ourselves. One never knows what is right around the corner :)
